Beastie Boys Square to be unveiled in Lower East Side this Saturday w/ Mike D & Ad-Rock

Last July, the New York City Council finally approved the renaming of the southwest corner of Ludlow and Rivington Beastie Boys Square, in honor of the Paul’s Boutique album art being photographed there. The new name will be unveiled at a dedication this Saturday (9/9), from 12 PM-2 PM, with Mike D and Ad-Rock both in attendance. Jon Bless will do a DJ set, and there will be pop-up activations, live screen printing, and more.

LeRoy McCarthy, the person behind Staten Island’s Wu-Tang Clan District and Brooklyn’s Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace Way, was behind the campaign for the name change, which took nearly a decade, and was finally carried out with the support of Council Member Chris Marte.
