It’s been three years since Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion, and after being found guilty of December of 2022, he’s currently being sentenced. A statement written by Megan was read on the first day of sentencing on Monday (8/7), in which she says, “Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace. Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.” The statement was delivered by LA Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta–Megan writes that she considered delivering the statement in person, but “simply could not bring myself to be in a room with Tory again.” (She previously testified during the trial.)

Tory Lanez was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. His lawyers argue in their sentencing memo, per AP, that “he should get only probation and be released from jail to enter a residential substance abuse program.” Judge David Herriford allowed seven witnesses to give statements on Tory’s childhood trauma, his role in his son’s life, and his history of charity, raising possible mitigating factors to the 13-year sentence prosecutors are asking for.

The sentencing is scheduled to conclude today (8/8).
