Armand Hammer share “Trauma Mic” ft. Pink Siifu, announce tour

Armand Hammer (billy woods & ELUCID) have announced a tour and shared the first single and video off their upcoming album We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, which arrives 9/29 via Fat Possum (pre-order). The single is “Trauma Mic” featuring Pink Siifu. It was produced by DJ Haram, who also stars in the video, which was co-directed by actor Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs). It’s an abstract rap song that’s as hard-hitting as it is surrealist, and the duo says that the song “snowballs, except instead of snow it’s a neodymium magnet cascading down a mountain of discarded pig iron.” Check it out below.

Speaking about the album overall, ELUCID says, “This sort of reverse engineering of talented players who met for the first time in the studio jamming to pre-recorded beats before splintering off into new directions. Being in the room quietly watching 4 people fumble around each other’s sonic worlds before finally locking into a solid groove was a clear and obvious magical moment for me.”

Armand Hammer are doing a free daytime pop-up show at Brooklyn’s Public Records on August 5, and their proper tour includes NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on November 16. Tickets for the tour go on sale Thursday (8/3) at 10 AM local. All dates are listed below.

billy woods also released his Kenny Segal-produced album Maps earlier this year.
