Coachella 2022: Weekend 1 in photos

Coachella returned for its first edition since 2019 over the weekend (4/15-4/17), with headliners Harry Styles, who brought out Shania Twain for "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" and "You're Still The One," on Friday; Billie Eilish, who brought out Damon Albarn, Pos from De La Soul, and Khalid on Saturday; and The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia on Sunday. If you're wondering what The Weeknd and SMH's co-billed set entailed, it began with SHM, who brought out The Weeknd for their collaborations "Sacrifice" and "How Do I Make You Love Me?" from The Weeknd's new album, and then that segued seamlessly into The Weeknd's set. For his very last song, he brought SHM back out for another of their recent collaborations, "Moth to a Flame" from Swedish House Mafia's just-released debut album.

Weekend one of this year's festival also included sets from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Daniel Caesar (who brought out Justin Bieber), Phoebe Bridgers (who brought out Arlo Parks), Lil Baby (who brought out Gunna), Mika, Princess Nokia, The Hu, Ela Minus, Amyl & The Sniffers, PUP, Spiritualized, Code Orange, The Avalanches, TOKiMONSTA (who brought out Tinashe), slowthai, The Marías, Arooj Aftab, Snoh Aalegra, IDLES, Arcade Fire (a surprise last-minute addition to the lineup), Carly Rae Jepsen (who debuted a new song, "Western Wind), Big Sean (who brought out Jhené Aiko), Baby Keem, Black Coffee, Cordae, City Girls (who brought out Moneybagg Yo), Peggy Gou, Daphni, Jayda G, and Anitta (who brought out Snoop Dogg and Saweetie) on Friday.

Saturday featured Megan Thee Stallion (who debuted a new song), Flume (who brought out Beck, Vince Staples and Caroline Polachek), Koffee, Stromae, Danny Elfman (playing his first full show with a band in 27 years, and mixing Oingo Boings songs with some of his most famous movie and TV themes), Disclosure (who brought out Khalid), Beach Bunny, Molchat Doma, black midi, Mannequin Pussy, Nilufer Yanya, Beach Goons, Hot Chip, Freddie Gibbs (Madlib was unable to perform "due to personal reasons"), Caroline Polachek, Rina Sawayama, Arlo Parks (who brought out Phoebe Bridgers), Floating Points, Caribou, Steve Lacy, Turnstile, girl in red, Japanese Breakfast, Amber Mark, 21 Savage (who brought out Post Malone and Metro Boomin), Isaiah Rashad, BROCKHAMPTON (playing one of their last shows before an "indefinite hiatus"), 100 gecs and more.

Sunday included sets from Jamie xx, Doja Cat (who debuted new songs, and brought out Rico Nasty and Tyga), Karol G (who brought out Tiesto and Becky G), Maggie Rogers, Run the Jewels, Surf Curse, FINNEAS, Yola, Mariah the Scientist, Eyedress, Crumb, Viagra Boys, Altin Gun, Orville Peck, beabadoobee, Sampa the Great, The Blessed Madonna & Honey Dijon, Dave, Fred again.., Denzel Curry (who brought out JID and Glass Animals), Duck Sauce, Vince Staples, Channel Tres (who brought out Ty Dolla $ign), Griselda, Maxo Kream, Fatboy Slim and more.
