Minneapolis, MNa – The three other ficers involved in the police killing 46-year-old George Floyd will reportedly face charges. According to a tweet from Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has also upgraded Derek Chauvin’s charge from third-degree murder to second-degree murder.
“Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is increasing charges against Derek Chauvin to 2nd degree in George Floyd’s murder and also charging other 3 ficers,” she wrote. “This is another important step for justice.”

After speaking to JAY-Z, Governor Tim Walz announced Ellison had taken over Floyd’s case from Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.
The former Democratic congressman previously said he had “every expectation” charges will be filed against the ficers and evidently, he was correct. The ficial announcement from Ellison is expected to arrive on Wednesday afternoon (June 3).
In the wake Floyd’s death, the country has erupted in protests and ten violent riots.
Chauvin, who is the ficer seen kneeling on Floyd’s neck in the viral video, was initially arrested charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter while Officers Thomas Lane and J.A. Keung, who helped restrain Floyd, and a fourth ficer, Tou Thao, who stood near the others, remained free.
A second, independent autopsy commissioned by the Floyd family ruled Floyd’s death was a homicide by asphyxia.
