Ice Cube Cancels ‘GMA’ Appearance In Wake Of George Floyd Police Killing

Hip Hop legend Ice Cube has been very vocal in expressing his frustration over the George Floyd police killing and said frustration led him to shutter a scheduled Good Morning America appearance on Thursday (May 28).

“I apologize to everyone expecting to see me on Good Morning America today, but after the events in Minnesota with George Floyd I’m in no mood to tell America, good morning,” Cube wrote on Twitter.

The Amerikkka’s Most Wanted scribe was likely slated to discuss his role in the upcoming Focus Features film, The High Note, where he stars as a veteran artist manager alongside Tracee Ellis Ross and Dakota Johnson. The film will be released on Friday (May 29th), to all available digital service providers in the wake the COVID-19 outbreak.

Known for his politically charged lyrics, including his most recent album, 2018’s Everythang’s Corrupt, Cube has been heavily using social media to get his opinions across. On Wednesday (May 27), he posted an Instagram photo that depicted Floyd’s final moments under the knee Minneapolis police ficer Derek Chauvin before he was pronounced dead on Memorial Day.

A day after the fatal incident, all four ficers were fired from their jobs. Floyd’s family is still calling for arrests and prosecutions.
