What began as a simple challenge by Brazilian DJ Nyack has blossomed into a full-blown movement dedicated to the influence the legendary DJ Premier.
“DJ Premier] inspired many us, so I decided to pay homage with this video,” Nyack wrote on Instagram, nominating DJs such as Skratch Bastid and X-Ecutioners member DJ Boogie Blind to participate.
The two responded, adding nominations their own as the challenge exploded from there. It even caught the attention Preemo himself.
Nyack reacted to challenge’s popularity Instagram last week, sharing his appreciation for how expansive it became.
“A week ago I had a simple idea and decided to put it in work for the love turntablism culture,” he wrote. “I am grateful to see it sparked a movement with DJs around the world and it even got to the point being acknowledged and thanked by the honoree himself.”

He added, “Thank you so much, DJ Premier! And too all those who got on and those who still will. Keep them tables turning.”
Following Preemo’s battle with RZA, it looks like the challenge could gain more attention and continue over the weeks to come.
