Just Blaze and Samantha Ronson will headline an all-day open-format DJ showcase on Twitch in an effort to raise funds for COVID-19 first responders. Presented by Beatsource — a joint venture between Beatport and DJcity — the livestreamed fundraiser is set to go down this Saturday (April 11) from 12-8 pm PST.
“With all the insanity in the world right now, we’re all wondering how we can help members our community who are getting hit the hardest as a result the pandemic,” Blaze said in a statement. “As DJs and entertainers, we can all do our part to bring a little joy and a little music into people’s lives, while also raising funds to help those who need it most. DJcity is an important part our culture and events like these are so necessary at this moment in time.”
Donations raised during the stream will go toward Direct Relief, which has partnered with U.S. nonprit organizations and businesses to provide protective personal equipment and essential medical items to healthcare workers during the pandemic.
“I think it’s hard for those us who are at home to hear the news all day and not be able to actively participate in helping out those who are suffering in so many different ways,” Ronson added. “I am doing my part by staying home and helping to flatten the curve, donating where I can and sharing information when I can; so when I was asked to DJ this fundraiser I jumped at the opportunity and am grateful to be a part it.”
Blaze will kick the stream f with a set from 12-1 pm, followed by hour-long sets from Kayper, DJ Revolution, Mad Skillz, DJ Spider, Ronson and Chris Villa, with DJ Scene closing out the festivities between 7-8 pm.
