Shaggy turned down a chance to be on Rihanna’s next album for a not-so-obvious reason. The dancehall artist opted not to appear on the pop superstar’s upcoming LP because he had to audition for a spot.
“They approached me for the Rihanna project, yeah,” Shaggy told the Daily Star. “There’s a lot great people involved, but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record, I’ll leave that to younger guys.”
Despite not contributing to the project, Shaggy had positive things to say about Rihanna’s upcoming album.
“From what I hear it should be good,” he said regarding the highly anticipated LP.
Rihanna has reportedly worked with a number popular Jamaican artists on her much-discussed project. The album was targeted for a December 2019 release but nothing came to close out the year. So far, no release date has been announced for the project.
While fans wait for her ninth album, RiRi has been busy focusing on her growing empire. She recently introduced Savage X Fenty’s first collaboration with fashion designer Adam Selman, which is set for Valentine’s Day capsule with additional drops through April.
