††† (Crosses) share two new songs, ‘Initiation’ and ‘Protection’

††† (Crosses), the side project of Deftones’ Chino Moreno and producer/multi-instrumentalist Shaun Lopez, have shared two new songs – you can listen to ‘Initiation’ and ‘Protection’ below.

The LA group, who released their self-titled debut album in 2014, announced their return in December by signing a new deal with Warner Records and releasing a cover of Q Lazzarus’ ‘Goodbye Horses’.

Moreno and Lopez have now shared two new ††† (Crosses) tracks. ‘Initiation’, which is accompanied by a Lorenzo Diego Carrera-directed video, is inspired by the “world is yours” scene from Scarface and is described in a press release as “a soundtrack for uncertain times”.

You can watch the video for ‘Initiation’, which features both band members and Thais Molon (playing a recurring character who has featured in such ††† (Crosses) videos as 2013’s ‘Bitches Brew’ and 2014’s ‘The Epilogue’), below.

††† (Crosses) have also shared the track ‘Protection’, which “digs deeper into their influences and electronic textures with its masterful production”. You can hear the song below.

More new music from ††† (Crosses) is set to be released later this year.

Back in December 2020, ††† (Crosses) shared a cover of Cause & Effect’s ‘The Beginning Of The End’.

In recent Deftones news, bassist Sergio Vega announced earlier this month that he had left the band.

Addressing his departure, Vega thanked his former bandmates and said: “I want you to know that I appreciate all the years we spent together: writing, performing, being taken into your worlds. I learned a lot from each one of you, when you brought me in, you created a new sense of passion for music that I will always cherish and carry with me. You truly changed my life.”
