According TMZ, a face-to-face meeting for JAY-Z and Kanye West might be closer to actually taking place.
Earlier this month the site reported that a meeting was in the works and now it seems that it’s even closer to happening, according to their source. The two stars and longtime friends have been beefing over the past year, sparked by Kanye’s rant on stage last year, where he named dropped not only JAY-Z, but Beyoncé and Blue Ivy. Though Kanye was hospitalized for suffering a mental breakdown shortly thereafter, Jay was upset enough about the incident to repeatedly mention it “Kill Jay-Z” on his most recent album, 4:44.
“You got hurt because this person was talking about you on a stage,” Hov said the incident during his interview on the Rap Radar podcast with Elliott Wilson and Brian ‘B.Dot’ Miller last month. “But what really hurt me was, you can’t bring my kids and my wife into it. Kanye’s my little brother. He’s talked about me 100 times. He made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it. Now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real, real problem. And he knows it’s a problem.”
Adding to the fire, Kanye filed a $3.5 million lawsuit against Jay-Z’s Tidal, saying his contract is over because the company didn’t uphold its end the bargain. According to TMZ’s source, the money is the least the worries between Jay and ‘Ye—it’s more about restoring a years long friendship and re-establishing trust.
“The Generals Kanye and Jay] have to meet face-to-face,” the source said. “When that happens, the resolving the money dispute is a piece cake.”
Both Kanye and Jay are reportedly willing to meet, and soon. Meanwhile, both have been busy on the music front, with Jay promoting 4:44 with a number festival appearances, including his most recent at the Meadow’s Festival. Kanye has also gotten back to the music, creating three versions Pusha T’s upcoming album, King Push, working with Kid Cudi and shaping Teyana Taylor’s upcoming project, which is set to drop this fall.
