Chance the Rapper’s new Coloring Book features guest spots from the likes of Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Young Thug, but it’s possible he could be working with some indie rockers in the future. While nothing is confirmed, it seems as if Chancellor is mulling over the idea of working with Death Cab for Cutie.
A meeting between the two acts was chronicled over the weekend at Tennessee’s Bonnaroo festival by Death Cab touring member Dave Depper over Instagram. A picture finds Chance hanging out with the vocalist/guitarist Ben Gibbard and drummer Jason McGerr. Depper noted in the caption that the rapper is an “incredibly nice dude, and huge Death Cab fan. Who knew?”
The band also posted a picture of themselves hanging out backstage with their famous fan through their Instagram feed, which you can see up above.
On top of this, Chance had a few things to say about the group’s Bonnaroo set list, with a video showing him scratching off the band’s Kintsugi song “Little Wanderer” to include a favourite of his, Plans track “I Will Follow You into the Dark.”

When a fan asked today (June 13) over Twitter if a Death Cab/Chance collab was imminent, the rapper responded with a “Big 10-4.” While this doesn’t confirm that a song is on the way anytime soon, the CB-speak acknowledgement is something to hang onto for fans of both bands.

Hopefully, if this team-up actually happens, the song won’t end up on the cutting room floor. Chance the Rapper recently revealed that he regrets chopping pianist pop star Regina Spektor from Coloring Book‘s “Same Drugs.”
