Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton took some time before last night’s preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills to confront his former teammate, wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. However, Benjamin was not interested in listening to what Newton had to say.
In an interview with The Athletic’s Tim Graham last week, the Bills wide receiver explained that he wished he hadn’t been drafted by the Panthers and lamented the fact that he had to play with a QB like Newton.
Benjamin told Graham,
Last night, Newton walked up to Benjamin while he was speaking with Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis, who “walked away to allow them the opportunity to talk things out,” according to Panthers.com. Despite Newton’s attempts, Benjamin showed little interest in having any conversation.
Of his impromptu “meeting” with Cam, Benjamin told reporters after the game, “I wasn’t even trying to listen.”
